SPYROS I&T Consulting is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support a large customer in the Annapolis Junction area. The Systems Administrator will configure and optimize systems as well as improve deployment methods. A strong understanding of virtual machines is a must for this position.

Basic Qualifications:

• Candidates must have a Bachelors Degree with 10 years of experience or a total of 14 years in lieu of a Degree
• A TS/SCI with full scope polygraph Clearance is required
• Experience in UNIX System Administration, including configuration, troubleshooting and automation
• Experience with SQL (Oracle and MySQL) and noSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB, Berkeley DB)
• Passion for developing backend systems software that improves sustainability and operations
• Proven technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience
• Fluency in at least one scripting/coding language such as Ruby, Shell or Python
• Experience writing software for configuration management systems (Puppet, Chef) in a production environment
• Experience configuring and/or utilizing monitoring/logging solutions for operations such as: Nagios, Collectd, logstash, Kafka, Cassandra
• Solid web infrastructure fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, caching, REST and scale out
• Exceptional analytical abilities
• Experience configuring Java application servers such as Tomcat, Netty
• Experience using distributed source code control such as Git, mercurial
• Ability to conduct root cause analysis on production issues with other engineers

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with security accreditation process
• Knowledge of the Java development process and use of tools such as Maven, JUnit, SLF4J
